Why these permissions?
Metheus needs certain permissions because it works directly on the pages and videos you choose to study from. Here's exactly what each permission is for:
| Permission | Why needed | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Read page content | To detect and highlight words on the page | Vocabulary highlighting and dictionary lookups |
| Access video pages | To interact with subtitle/video players | Subtitle mining and learning overlays |
| Storage | To save settings and local study state | Your preferences and cached vocabulary |
| Active tab | To apply features to the current page | Enable tools only where you are studying |
What Metheus does NOT do
- Does not sell your data
- Does not use permissions for advertising
- Does not read pages for unrelated tracking
- Only uses page access to power user-requested learning features
We'd rather explain permissions clearly than hide behind legal text.
